Benefits of Renting Property in Cyprus

Familiarity with a particular area

Even if you have holidayed many times in Cyprus and feel you know it well, living and perhaps earning your living there will change your perspective completely.

Whatever your circumstances, you’ll want to spend some time checking out the different areas of Cyprus, to see what will best suit your daily needs.

  • Nicosia
  • Paphos
  • Larnaca
  • Limassol
  • Famagusta

A property that was perfect for two weeks holiday may be impractical if you intend to live there all year round. Renting a property in Cyprus will mean that you can find out what’s available locally, what transport is like and meet others who have decided to live in the area.

All of which will help you decide whether you could live there all year round.

Find out which type of property is right for you

Is a new property right for you or would you prefer a resale? Are you looking for an apartment, villa, townhouse or bungalow?

If your property needs a lot of renovation this can become a burden, especially if you’re working, have a young family or are retired.

Sometimes it’s easier – and cheaper in the long run – to buy a new property.

Think about road access and local transport – and remember you may not always want to drive everywhere. If your dream is to live in an idyllic traditional country property, how easy is access and what will it be like in the winter?

Making sure the important things are within easy reach

You may think you’ve found the perfect dream property for you but it will soon turn into a nightmare if you have to drive for miles to take the children to school or get to work or do a supermarket run.

Whatever age you are, young or old, you’ll need to be reasonably close to medical facilities and hospitals in case of an emergency.

What about local sport and leisure facilities? Some of these things might not seem that important until you can’t get to them!

Take your time finding your ideal home

Renting a property in Cyprus buys you time – you can live that wonderful lifestyle and really take your time to find something that’s absolutely right for you and your family.

Try and rent a similar property to that which you’re considering buying and in the area you think you’re interested in.

Find out what a place is like all year round

Rent for at least six months or preferably a year. This way you can find out what the area is like all year round – Cyprus is a popular holiday destination and some areas can be very different in the summer and winter.

Long-term rentals are usually easier to find in the main towns and cities and in some resorts, such as Paphos, where retirees often rent for a while before buying a property.
